About the Course

This foundational session unlocks the body’s energy engine. Students will transition from looking at raw body data to calculating precise energy metrics, learning how to analyze body composition and map out the initial framework of a client’s daily energy needs.

What Students Should Know Entering This Session: A baseline understanding of what a calorie represents (energy). Familiarity with standard body weight and height measurements. Core Learning Objectives:

  • Analyze an InBody analysis printout to accurately interpret body composition metrics (skeletal muscle mass, fat mass, and body water distribution).
  • Calculate a client’s Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) using standard clinical predictive equations.
  • Determine the correct Physical Activity Level (PAL) multiplier based on a client's occupational and training lifestyle.
  • Compute Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) by synthesizing BMR and PAL data.
  • Outline the preliminary strategy for distributing nutrients and meal frequency across a 24-hour cycle.
