About the Course

This lecture introduces the scientific foundations of cardiorespiratory fitness and its importance for improving health and physical performance. Participants will learn how to assess cardiorespiratory fitness, determine training intensity using heart rate, and apply the FITTE principle and the Karvonen Formula to establish appropriate training zones.

The lecture also covers the design of safe and effective aerobic training programs tailored to different fitness levels and individual training goals.

Learning Outcomes By the end of this lecture, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the concept of cardiorespiratory fitness and its importance for health and athletic performance.
  • Assess cardiorespiratory fitness using appropriate field-based fitness tests.
  • Calculate target heart rate and training zones using the Karvonen Formula.
  • Design individualized aerobic training programs based on the FITTE principle.
  • Monitor exercise intensity using heart rate and Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE).
  • Develop progressive training programs appropriate for different fitness levels and specific training goals.
