About the Course

This lecture explores the scientific foundations of flexibility, stretching, and mobility, and their role in improving movement quality, preventing injuries, and enhancing physical performance.

Participants will examine the physiological and mechanical factors that influence flexibility, understand the distinction between flexibility and mobility, and explore the physiological mechanisms underlying stretching.

The lecture also covers various stretching techniques, including dynamic, static, passive, ballistic, and isometric stretching, as well as PNF techniques, with a focus on their appropriate application during warm-up, cool-down, and training programs.

Learning Outcomes By the end of this lecture, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between flexibility and mobility and explain their importance in human movement and physical performance.
  • Identify the physiological and mechanical factors that influence flexibility.
  • Explain the characteristics, benefits, and limitations of different stretching techniques.
  • Select appropriate stretching methods based on specific training objectives or physical activity requirements.
  • Apply stretching and mobility protocols safely and effectively.
  • Design individualized flexibility and mobility programs based on individual needs and sport-specific demands.
  • Improve movement quality and contribute to reducing injury risk through evidence-based stretching and mobility programs
