About the Course

This practical lecture provides participants with hands-on experience in conducting comprehensive health and fitness assessments.

Learners will perform pre-participation health screening, anthropometric measurements, body composition assessment, cardiovascular fitness tests, flexibility, mobility and movement evaluations, muscular strength and endurance tests, and functional fitness assessments.

Participants will also apply practical procedures learned in the Cardiovascular Fitness and Stretching, Flexibility & Mobility lectures, including resting and exercise heart rate monitoring, determination of training intensity using heart rate methods, identification of movement restrictions, joint mobility screening, and selection of appropriate stretching techniques based on individual assessment findings.

The lecture emphasizes standardized testing procedures, accurate data collection, interpretation of normative values, and professional communication of assessment results.

Participants will use assessment outcomes to design safe, individualized exercise programs, prescribe appropriate cardiovascular training intensities, and develop flexibility and mobility interventions that support health, performance, and injury prevention.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of this lecture, participants will be able to:
  • Conduct a comprehensive pre-exercise health screening using standardized questionnaires.
  • Measure anthropometric variables, including height, weight, body circumferences, BMI, and waist-to-hip ratio.
  • Assess cardiovascular fitness using resting heart rate, the 3-Minute Step Test, and the Rockport Walk Test.
  • Determine appropriate cardiovascular training intensity using heart rate-based methods and assessment results.
  • Evaluate flexibility and joint mobility using the Sit-and-Reach Test, Shoulder Flexibility Test, and selected mobility assessments.
  • Identify movement limitations and distinguish between flexibility and mobility deficits.
  • Select and demonstrate appropriate stretching techniques (static, dynamic, PNF, and mobility exercises) based on individual assessment findings.
  • Assess muscular strength and endurance using 1RM estimation, Push-up Test, Plank Test, and Wall Sit Test.
  • Interpret assessment results using age- and sex-specific normative values.
  • Identify individual strengths, limitations, movement dysfunctions, and health risk factors based on assessment findings.
  • Record assessment data accurately and communicate results professionally.
  • Utilize assessment outcomes to design individualized cardiovascular, flexibility, mobility, and resistance training programs and monitor training progress.
  • Apply standardized testing protocols while ensuring participant safety, measurement reliability, and professional practice.
