Separating evidence-based sports science from marketing hype. Students will learn to critically analyze athletic supplements, understanding the precise physiological mechanisms, exact timing protocols, and safety profiles of performance-enhancing aids.

What Students Should Know Entering This Session: Macronutrient fueling pathways and energy systems (from Session 2). Basic hydration principles and electrolyte functions (from Session 3). Core Learning Objectives:

  • Assess the clinical efficacy, safety profiles, and mechanisms of action for protein powders, sports drinks, sport gels, creatine, caffeine, and safe fat burners.
  • Prescribe targeted protocols detailing exactly how, when, why, and what supplements to use based on specific athletic or body composition goals.
  • Differentiate between safe, permitted metabolic enhancers and banned or dangerous substances in competitive athletics.
